Review

Review
Do we really need to read  reviews to watch a movie?
Does the purpose of review is merely to make  people  watch the movie or not??

I just got into this writing from having heard many conversations on a films release and people discuss the number of stars a film has be given by some website where we don't have any idea about the reviewer.

If we have to choose over  films on a weekend can't we choose it ourselves?
I  read reviews once i finish watching a film and suggest so for any viewer.
For a maker, its like an evaluation report.

Here are my list of reviewers i look upto
1 Baradwaj Rangan whose articles are published in TheHindu. Here is his blog http://baradwajrangan.wordpress.com/ He is my most revered writer on films. He is awarded National film award for best critic(which i got to know now).
2. Mihir Fadnavis  film critic at mid day most known with his blog /http://mihirfadnavis.blogspot.in/
you can follow him https://twitter.com/mihirfadnavis   and taste his reccos.
3. Rajeev Masand  A known face for any cnn-ibn viewer.
4.Peter Bradshaw  http://www.guardian.co.uk/profile/peterbradshaw and
5 Roger Ebert  http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/ .

Though i dont agree to all of their views  i love to read their reviews.

Vaadu Veedu

vaadu veedu(avan Ivan) completely disappointed me.
why did he made it?
jus becoz he is a filmmaker he had to.or
he want to entertain this time so he made a comedy..
its the weakest among his films.
the storyline is predictable from the trailer itself
but whenthe 2nd half begins every scene is predictable.
he made two lovestories and then a revenge story very similar to Pithamagan.there is nothing new. felt there is an edit to the story too--the subplot of 1 crore valued forest things being smuggled..
as the comedy is concerned its puerile, evn there are few laughs they end abruptly.
the screenplay is not strong ,it holds the dumb story together because of bala's direction.he repeated his own thought again -->the climax fight = of naan kadavul and the trademark scene at the end -->A film by Bala
only the thing which raises the film is music and background score by yuvan..he didn't use any western instruments.
also Vishal was acting for the first time i suppose.and the navarasas scene where surya has his guest appearance is an overpitched one,its like an old school thought.Lots of efforts were put by other cast of the film too.
can't bala wait and make some new story out of him and make a film..?

SHaithan

did a journey of 2 hrs to watch Shaitan..
and yes it is a story to be told..
shaitan is a thriller which clinches you and its a new age film.
outstanding abt shaitan is its camerawork and shot composition ,the songs carries the mood greatly together..
dir bijoy Nambiar who co wrote Shaitan packed some surprises--KoyaKoya chand...
But i have concerns
there were few scenes to excite the audience like the inspector mathur kicking the autowala, guest appearance of Rajat Barmecha and few dialogues ..(its jus like a pot boiler ishhtyle)
my other concern is the title and caption which i particulary feel as not fit to the story.shaitan does not have deep insight into the characters which how i counter abt its title
As its produced by Anurag,i have my expectations about it,but Shaitan has different kind of dealing in..
and its not to the mark of Paanch at all.
Paanch is more dark, gritty than shaitan
and i have the question, is it the added flavour needed to make a film engaging?
i will say myself no to it.
and shaitan is as commercial as Ready.
P.S:still want to be in Koya Koya Chand.

I am God--aham brahmasmi

when Ganguly comes back on to the field there are ppl who fall over his feet.
our nation is a place where we show high amounts of gratitude to evrything .we made Sun as god, tree as god ,stones as god, actors as matinee idols, men as God.and the same day when godguly
is back i have met a person who call himself God "aham Brahmasmi" --Naan kadavul/nenu devunni--A film by Bala. Here is the film maker who completely contrasted the context. He made the Disturbing,Dark cinema(Pithamagan,Naan kadavul) ever in the Indian Cinema.
i completely fell for his conceiving the idea, portraying it.He is the best for me among tamil, telugu directors. The movie is based on a tamil novel "The Seventh World"(title in english),it stands par to world cinema.
The film protaganist is Rudra (Arya) who is an aghora calls himself as God(kaal bhairav) smokes Opium and meditates.Arya suited the role with his towering personality.Rudra(Arya) speaks very few times ,but every time he speaks its philosophy. Though the movie is named abt Rudra, its not just abt him,its more abt God .I just liked the way story begins, progresses and forms.
The movie centres about child trafficking and beggars. There are many disabled, deformed, dwarfs too acted in.The way they performed makes the movie so pure.
and the story is in particular about blind girl(Hamsavalli)done by pooja(remember teacher in Orange),she was really responsible for the soul of movie.
there are metaphors too:gash in preclimax to Rudra resembling Lord Shiva's third eye.
and the relation b/n people and beggars, babas .Both are given money so as to clear their(people) sins.
the best dialogues :hamsavalli in the climax scene, fewlines spoken by Rudra, the cynnical words by the dwarf beggars ,scene in police station, and the court scene.
and the best addition to Bala's making is ilayaraja's BGM.
it is bold film making, where he points many issues.
but i have few concerns why it was named so,also there is uncertainity for me to make rudra as
deux ex machina and probably i felt there were censor cuts.
i respect Bala and his making. waiting for vaadu veedu(Avan Ivan).

Is it 100pc?

100pc love, names Don't mean content these days..if u ask director who is also the storywriter of the movie what he was dealing with, there wouldn't be any clear conclusive opinion or he would say its just entertainment..
the trend of random pattern of stories happening here in telugu cinema which makes me to say there is no sensible cinema happening. the only exception 100 pc gives in its 1st half frm randomness, it is engaging.the first half have the director's asthetic touch in title cards(ofcourse, he got struck with his card declaring him as examiner) and the song "aho balu", he finely use CG to mean the lyrics(CG here is superior to some graphitti orange and mindless dheeras). He fails to keep the point(ofcourse pointless)to the end. drunk scene will have zeropoint pc alcohol content in the preclimax, director must be drunk while shooting that piece.A lot of fresh faces were selected and they have done the job well.
chaithanya who is being slammed by lot on his acting,as for me he gave alot .also being said Tamanna dominated NC ,i dont feel so the irriated balu in first half is the best act of the movie.Tamanna was very comfortable, thx to swathi for giving her voice, made the thing better.
the music was catchy DSP didn't reuse anything. The best is 'INfatuation" with its chandraaBOse lyrics ,but the most disappointment is there is no proper placing of the song, makes irrelevance to take high percent.

P.S:there is no brahmi, ali ,sunil but there are bachhas (baap of comedy happens arnd them) .

watched NNR

N(puri) naa rakshashi(vadi script): it is bein said a new concept, but i don't get any concept of it as there is no sense of wat he is dealing in the movie .As far as im concerned it is not a concept but a point he wanted to raise(which can't be taken into consideration),btw those who say its a new concept,go back to "mee sreyobhilashi" which is far superior in its voice to NNR.and the whole 2hrs and odd movie runs with hardly engaging script.the only performance which sparks is abhimanyu singh(bukka of RC),hwevr its a redux to jhonny bhai (ek niranjan).why does evry character have the same style of speaking(thinking).I don't understand why its so easy to kill, use guns, daggers, knives ,abscond, attempting suicide for these filmmakers. He is not the same puri who has written idiot, amma naanna o,pokiri,he lost it .same old style of taking (the way tollywood takes),inserting songs ,taking to foreign locations ,comedy of manners(its all abt crap).puri is forcing himself to make ,he ain't making frm heart.Hope his BUddah will surely say hoga tera BAAp.
